A resident of Scotland and a cabinet maker by trade, Don Morrison is also creator of vehicles which are a unique combination of high-level workmanship in metal, wood, and other craft media, deployed to further a delightfully whimsical design sensibility. If forced to label his work, I would call it "Surrealism which isn't afraid to roll its sleeves up, and get its hands dirty". Jim Wilson |
"The Wellabidginate" began its reincarnation as a two-wheeled creation, but in my quest for the lazy person's ultimate bike, a third wheel was added!! Then a second seat !! Then a carrier box to interchange with the second seat !! In its present form it "boasts" 21-speed gearing, |
"The Wellabidginate" I suppose you could call this a recumbent trike, but it is like no other 'bent trike I've ever seen. Maybe back at the beginning of cycling, before all the design solutions had become standard- ized. This is like a recumbent designed by the team of Jules Verne and Dr. Seuss. Here is Mr. Morrison's background information on the vehicle: |
all-wheel braking. Overall length is 66". Turning circle is 42". Can be ridden hands-free easily and just as easy to ride on two wheels, for those narrow paths and alleyways!!} |
A pair of "Nippers": Below: A nipper for round town Still to be officially named. |
Below: Possibly a "lifeboat" for the Wellabidginate????? |
"Old Woody" Evolved through a request by a local forestry commision to display some of my furniture on their open day {I'm a cabinet maker.} As they have a new cycle path going through their village I thought I'd combine the two themes, hence a red pine bicycle !! All mechanics are new and were supplied and fitted by my local cycle shop owner and good friend, so far!! This bike is a joy to ride and handles like a really high-quality cycle, which is quite amazing, considering how little time was spent in its design and build!!

"Skike" Right: One of my first creations, which after much abuse, is still going strong! It's a cross between a skateboard and a bike, hence the name. |
I built this tipper lorry for my four year old son about 18 months ago. Bodywork is pretty rough, only three or four hours work, I only wanted to prove the capabilities of an ordinary windshield wiper motor as a drive unit! The tipper is also a wiper motor running a trapeizoidal threaded bar.It can carry up to one and a half hundredweights, and can run up to 10-12 mph. |
