Andrea Burchell:
Kustom Silver King, Hot Rod Silver King

Here are some of the specs on it:
Frame & Fork: 1935 (I think) Monark Silver King. Fork was broken by UPS during shipment to me. It has been welded, and I superglued a pair of
otherwise not-even-cuff-link quality Buffalo Nickels to the fork blades.
That, and the GT/Dyno grips are sort of my trademarks on the bikes I have Kustomized. The bike is essentially stock, although the 24" rims are current production alloy types, laced to the original New Departure skiptooth rear hub, complete with oil cap. Front hub is also ND. I've added a Wald "feather" chainguard, an Oogah push horn, and a tire-drive siren since the picture was taken. The bike has been cleaned up to a respectable vintage patina on the original aluminum frame, and gets quite a few looks on the local bike path. My husband, who had a SK as a boy, got me interested in the Monarks. I built a custom version for him, more of a "chopper" style. I squeezed 26" alloy wheels into the frame (no fenders), with mountain bike slicks (lower profile) and a Schwinn springer fork; it uses an American Breezer mountain bike stem, lathe turned to fit the smaller steerer, with brake cable roller, current production cruiser bars, and the GT grips for controls. I will have to bring it out for a photo shoot for you. Other oldies we have are a '51 Schwinn B-6 and a '52 Hornet Straightbar. I have an old Shelby frame in the rafters that I want to build up into a sort of hybrid single-speed mountain bike/ retro cruiser. Unfortunately I also have a cast on my right arm at the present (torn flexor tendon) so I can't get that one off the drawing board, yet....

Hot Rod Silver King (Below)
Details on the machine: I think it's about a 1937. Original frame, expander-type seatpost and crank- and that's about all. Fork is a Schwinn springer, stem is American Breezer mountain bike,
lathe-turned to fit, bars are current production cruiser type, and grips are GT Dyno. Wheels are: alloy rims, Shimano hubs, SS spokes; tires are repop "Grand Tycoons" in red, purchased at the Long Beach Bike & Motorcycle Swap Meet last weekend. Pedals are current production cruiser type.
