Jim Roslof: Hiawatha Kustom Kruiser, Schwinn Kustom Kruiser
1958 Schwinn Kustom Cruiser
Bought at a local garage sale; the only thing I kept was the frame. Brazed-on rear canti mounts and a new chrome front fork with canti bosses provide toehold for some recent-era Shimano MTB brakesets . This is a bike I put a lot of take-offs from upgrades on...like 70's-era Sugino Cranks, once again on Tioga three-piece conversion bottom bracket. The wheelset is early Araya mountain bike 1.75 rims. Rear laced to a one speed BMX hub. BMX also provided the fat seat clamp. Rubber is 2.125" Ritchey Moby Bite Slicks in that very cool light gray color with skinwalls. Handlebars and stem come from the friendly folks at Rivendell ie. Priest bars and their Dirt Drops stem. The seat is a Person's deluxe, quite cushy.
